Frequently, my patients ask me what is the purpose of using a facial cleanser and toner when choosing a skin care regimen in Austin.  I think of it like this—if you are using the bare essentials of the Non-Negotiables—a cleanser and toner further the effectiveness of these products be restoring this skin’s pH balance.  After all, if you choose to invest in quality skin care—then a quality cleanser and toner are very important.

Should I use a facial cleanser and a toner?

Yes, a gentle facial cleanser is essential to cleansing the skin of dirt, debris while not stripping the skin of its natural oils. A toner helps to remove dead skin cells and residue, refine pores and prepare the skin for treatment products by restoring it’s pH balance. This allows the subsequent application of products to penetrate the dermis so that they can be effective.  I recommend that my patients wait about 90 seconds between the application of the toner and the Non-Negotiables.

(Product Recommendation: SkinMedica Facial Cleanser and Rejuvenative Toner)
