Tell us about your background.

I like to think I’m a Texan at heart because I moved all over central and west Texas when I was little, but I spent most of my childhood in Manhattan, Kansas. I never knew what I wanted to do as a career I just always loved being artistic and creating. After high school, I went on to be a freelance makeup artist and ended up working for MAC cosmetics for a couple of years. Then decided to continue my education by enrolling in an aesthetic program in Utah and fell in love with medical esthetics. I then became a master medical esthetician through that program becoming certified in lasers and other medical treatments. I moved back to Kansas City, KS to be with my now Fiancé and practiced medical esthetics there at a local medical spa. Three years later my fiancé and I had enough of the cold winters and decided to move to Austin for the warm weather. I started at The Piazza Center one month after we moved and here we are two years later.

What made you decide to become an aesthetician and how did you make that happen?

While I was an active makeup artist in my early twenties, I developed the worst cystic acne breakout of my entire life. It made me feel so insecure about myself and was so painful even after many dermatologist visits it wasn’t getting better. So, I made the decision to go to aesthetics school to learn how to clear my skin. In the end I made the career change because I wanted to change patients’ skin rather than cover it with makeup.

How did you choose Austin?

We chose Austin for the great weather and mild winters.

How did you come to know Dr. Piazza?

I first met Dr. Piazza in my interview, he was his usual charming self with espresso in hand. We have a great working relationship referring patients back and forth for surgery options and body contouring modalities such as Emsculpt neo and Coolsculpting.

What is your favorite thing about working at The Piazza Center?

My favorite thing about working at the Piazza Center is how much the practice values continuing education for its providers. I am always learning something new or expanding my knowledge on one of our many devices.

What are your favorite treatments for yourself at The Piazza Center?

My favorite treatments for myself are dermaplaning, Hydrafacials, three step peel, Alpharet peel and Emsculpt Neo.

You seem passionate about your work. Can you share some insights?

Some insight I can provide is the importance of sunscreen use, especially in Texas. 90% of all skin aging is caused by unprotected sun exposure so, if you are serious about delaying skin aging, sunscreen needs to be use every day and reapplied every two hours in direct sun exposure.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

When I’m not working, I am usually taking care of my family, we have a very active dog so we are always hiking or walking. I love going into Austin and finding new restaurants and experiences for us to do as well.
