When I see a patient who desires breast implants, I make sure that she understands all of the decisions that come into play for breast augmentation. Women want to know their choices with regards to location of the incision, type of implant (saline or silicone gel), or location of the implant (above or below the chest muscle). Most importantly, the degree of enlargement can be a tough decision for my breast patients. I have put together this video blog to help explain some of the things that must be evaluated and discussed during a breast augmentation consultation at our plastic surgery office. We spend a great deal of time discussing patient goals and desires, assessing the breast with an examination, and working with breast sizes so that we can achieve a successful result. It is important to remember that having realistic expectations is necessary to achieve a successful outcome.
