Case 27
Case Details
A 47-year-old woman who lives in Austin, Texas was interested in having a tummy tuck at an Austin plastic surgery office. She expressed that her abdomen had never been the same after the birth of her daughter. She has had some weight gain and loss over the years and actively works out with e trainer each week. After not having a waist line for most of her life, she scheduled a consultation for a tummy tuck in Austin with Dr. Rocco Piazza.
During her consultation, Dr. Piazza explained that diet and exercise can have a very positive impact on achieving an excellent result, but there are limits to the extent of improvement when the abdominal wall has been stretched out from multiple pregnancies. He explained that the abdominal muscles can separate during pregnancy and can come back together after the delivery of the baby; however, the muscles don’t always come back together. This can leave a patient with a stretched out and rounded abdomen. A tummy tuck procedure allows Dr. Piazza to repair the muscles, remove excess skin and fat creating a flat, more toned appearance to the abdomen.
In surgery, Dr. Piazza repaired her abdominal muscle laxity contributing to her protruding abdomen and brought her abdomen to its new shape. Her incisions were placed low across her abdomen just above the pubic bone. This gives a lift to the pubic area and allows her to conceal her incision with low-rise jeans or a bikini.
Her tummy tuck was performed in an outpatient hospital surgery center in Austin, Texas. By 6 weeks after surgery, she had resumed her normal activities including receiving massage therapy and a full-time work schedule. She is most happy with her new waist line and is ready to get back to doing core exercise at the gym.
