Case 25
Case Details
This 47-year-old female who lives in Austin, Texas came to Dr. Piazza at his office location at Seton Southwest to discuss breast reduction surgery in Austin. She had a long-standing history of neck discomfort including cervical spine and disc issues in the past with multiple surgeries. She attributed these other medical problems largely to the weight and size of her breasts. She also complained of having rashes in the folds of her breasts that were particular worse in the central Texas summer heat. After referral by her spine doctor, she scheduled a breast reduction consultation at the Austin plastic surgery office of Dr. Rocco C. Piazza.
During her initial consultation, Dr. Piazza explained the different breast reduction techniques and explained how he prefers short scar breast reduction surgery to reduce the presence of unsightly scars on the breasts. Dr. Piazza also explained that her symptoms of discomfort and excessive sweating in the folds of her breasts would be relieved by reducing the size of her breasts if her breasts were truly the cause of these symptoms. He explained that his goal was to effectively reduce the volume of the breast while creating a pleasing shape.
In surgery, Dr. Piazza removed 1.5 lbs of skin, fat and breast tissue from each breast while sculpting her breasts to create a pleasing shape. He also reduced the size of her areolas and centered her nipples and areolas over her breast mound. Several sutures were placed inside the breast to move the actual breast tissue upward on her chest wall and shape the breasts.
Her breast enhancement surgery was done in an ambulatory surgical center in Austin, Texas. After surgery, she recovered well and was back to performing normal daily activities by 10 days. She is happy with the size and shape of her breasts. She feels that her neck symptoms have improved and has been most satisfied with the reduced size and shape of her breasts.
